In the near future, the new WordPress content Editor, Gutenberg would soon be released. While some of the users are happy with the new era of content publishing, others may not be eager to leave using the interface of WordPress and adopt a new one. Nevertheless, Gutenberg would surely change the way in which WordPress can be used.
To put it in simpler words, Gutenberg is nothing but an editor in WordPress. Instead of typing everything a bid blank space, the editor is transformed into smaller blocks. For instance, the individual can select a block to present the content in a better way. Moreover, the blocks can be moved or replicated as you wish.
When it comes to the sidebar, the editor offers numerous options to manage all kinds of things. Once the user has installed the plugin, he can go to the Frontenberg and create as well as edit content right from the web browser. You might hesitate to use the functionalities, but you would be pleasantly surprised at the way in which you would be managing content. So, here’s how the editor can transform the user experience.
How Gutenberg Improve the User Experience?
Copying content from Google Docs can really be tedious and troublesome. But, once you start using Gutenberg, you can copy the content from the document and paste it in the editor. You would no longer see weird tags while the headings and the paragraphs are pasted in the right way. This feature can be considered as an improvement as it is not available with the classic editor.
In case you need to edit the HTML code, then you can easily do it by clicking on the three dots at the uppermost right hand side corner. This is the feature that would make you happy and help you work a bit more efficiently.
In Gutenberg, once you click the information icon, you can view the table of contents present in the sidebar. Soon after you have clicked on a particular heading, you can directly go to the copy. If one of the writers has written an informative and a long blog, then it’s easy to edit the text. In that case, if you need to change the order of the paragraphs, then you simply have to drag and drop from one location to the other. Besides, you can shift the block up or down with the help of the upward and downward arrow.
Moving ahead, you may struggle to make the hand icon appear while placing the cursor correctly. In case you want to move two blocks at the same time, then you need to move them separately.
When you are thinking about SEO, then the headings are important. These actually guide the reader, present the structure of the text, and show the subtopics. As per our observation, many users state a heading and start writing big paragraphs. This might affect the readability eventually and the Yoast SEO plugin would notice this as something strange. So, to improve the readability to some extent, some subheadings have to be added through Gutenberg. You just need to click the ‘+’ sign and press ‘Enter’ for inserting the additional heading. By default, it would be H2, but can quickly change it to H3 or H4.
Further, an HTML anchor could be added without the need to switch to HTML. After clicking on the ‘Advanced’ option, the option would be visible on the computer screen. For example, you can add the text you want and can link it directly to the heading. You no longer need to add id-‘example’ in the HTML code.
Reusing a particular block of content is always useful for the web editor. In case of Gutenberg, you can either duplicate a block or can share it easily. If you prefer sharing the content, then you can paste on another page or the post. This is one of the features that may not be available with Oracle ATG. But, if you are concerned about duplicating blocks, it’s not required to recreate the entire page. This, in turn, may lead to confusion when search engines like Google can’t figure out the page that has to be displayed in the search engine results.
Once the shared block function is used, the user doesn’t have to type everything once again. The small piece of content can always be copied and pasted in numerous articles. You can just imagine the time you would be saving when notifications have to be added to a set of posts.
As an editor, you can quickly include screenshots and images in the blog post. Once you hit the ‘Enter’ key, you can click on the ‘+’ sign and upload the desired image. Apart from adding images, you can state a caption right below the image. As soon as you navigate to the sidebar, you can also add the Alt text to make the image SEO friendly.
In case you need to scale up an image, then you might not be happy in using the functionality. You may have to check the aspect ratio even when the image gets magnified as the mouse moves horizontally or vertically.
Finally, the experience is sure to be amazing with Gutenberg. But, you might find it a bit odd when you type a paragraph and see the plus sign. Well, that won’t disturb you because it would be useful sometime later for adding sentences. The image editing functionality is also something that needs attention. It requires some fine tuning as we have described earlier.
